Above: Garage door colour inspired by the long-blooming, drought-tolerant lonicera brownii (scarlet trumpet honeysuckle), which is planted in several spots in my backyard.
I just found out that "Honeysuckle" is Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2011. Who follows these things? I have no idea! People who care about these things more than I do, I guess. But the bright, reddish-pink colour goes great with green so don't just consider it for interior design - it sure looks great in the garden!
I picked this colour two years ago for my house's front door and back garage door on a sudden whim at the paint store and have been loving it ever since! I keep adding more of this colour to my garden every year, including flowers, but also I am considering spray-painting a couple of metal trellises this colour for the new veggie garden in the spring.
Above: the window box in the butterfly potager garden is also painted in 'honeysuckle'.

Your paint colors for your home and garage are wonderful. They are perfect, just like all your plants and flowers.
You should send your first honeysuckle image to [email protected]. They are posting honeysuckle images from "the public" on their facebook. You have one of the best honeysuckle photos I've seen.

Thanks Marsha! That's very kind of you. That garage door is seen from my kitchen window and even in the dead of winter that fun, bright colour cheers me up!
I sent in my top photo so we'll see if they post it!
Cheers,
Janice

Janice,
Did you see your garage on the Pantone Facebook page?
It's right next to the polka dot house I sent them. Very cool.
