Sigh. I miss the 2 shrubs I had at my old house (2 or more plants in close proximity will enhance fruit set). I took this picture on my walk to work.
Nankings are gorgeous in the spring, and have small cherries in summer that are tasty fresh off the bush (if you get to them before the birds). Apparently you can also make jelly from them but they're so small I think it would take too long to pick enough to make a decent amount...? Or maybe you have more time than me.
Nankings are quite large but can be pruned to keep their size in check. They can get 4-6 ft tall and wide. I think they look better if you prune them by thinning out old wood right at ground level. If you trim them to a more formal shape, then you risk cutting off all next year's flowers, and end up with a sad looking bush like this one (healthy enough but pathetically trying to flower):
