These smaller bulbs bloom in May then disappear and sometimes send up leaves again in fall. They come in blue, purple, white and combinations of these colours, and some varieties are fragrant too. They like sun or shade, increase year after year and require little care - exactly my type of plant!
I always see it suggested to plant them with daffodils because they look good together, but my daffodils are always just finishing when the grape hyacinths start.
Drought tolerant.
